Margin Slider

By enabling the margin slider in your SumoQuote account, you can easily adjust profit margins in your reports on the Quote Details and Authorization pages.

Setting the Default Margin

1. Go to Configuration > Account Settings > Products & Pricing
2. Click on Edit under Profit Settings
3. Select whether to Use margin or Use markup.
4. Input your Default margin percentage in the box. Look at the sample calculation below to determine the best default if you are unsure.
5. Click Save.
6. Click Back to navigate back to your Products & Pricing page.

Enabling and Configuring the Margin Slider

1. Go to Configuration > Account Settings > Products & Pricing
2. Click on Edit under Profit Settings.
3. Scroll down until you see Margin slider.
   1. To enable the slider, click on the toggle so it moves to the right and turns green.
   2. To disable the slider, click on the toggle so it moves to the left and turns grey.
4. When the margin slider is enabled, set the minimum margin that the slider can be set at on a quote. This means that you and your team cannot adjust the slider in a report lower than this percentage.

PRO TIP

• Margin = Profit as a percentage of overall revenue
  Example: 35% of our revenues were profit.
• Markup = Percentage profit increase over the cost of goods/services sold
  Example: We added 35% to our total costs to give us our profit.
